“Something to know is that we're not babysitters.”

“There are many different things that need to get done every day in our program. The sister I worked with had a Bachelor’s degree in early education administration, so she knew how things worked and took the lead on many of the logistics while I learned them. It was so helpful. Here, we divide the work evenly. Being able to rely on your partners is wonderful, and makes each day easier.”

“I like this work, but I didn't necessarily choose it. I was asked by my organization to come here and wanted to be of service. It's not something that I was looking for and thought, ‘maybe I can do that one day.’ As I say, I'm religious, so it's very different from the lay people that are opening family child care programs simply because they want to. So when they asked me, I said yes, but I didn't chose it. It was very new at first. Over time, I’ve enjoyed seeing the kids blossom and learn.”
